The International School of Ballet celebrates Alexandra MacDonald, who will dance the principal role of princess Aurora in the National Ballet of Canada's upcoming production of Sleeping Beauty at the Four Seasons Centre in Toronto on March 17 at 2 pm.

Alexandra trained at the International School of Ballet from the age of five and continued as a student at the school for the next 13 years.  In 2006 she won the Solo Seal Award, the highest recognition granted by the Royal Academy of Dance, and was a finalist in the Genée International Ballet Competition.  In 2007 Alexandra was a competitor in the prestigious Prix de Lausanne and subsequently in the Youth America Grand Prix in New York.  She joined the National Ballet of Canada in 2007 and was promoted to First Soloist in 2016.

To this day, she remains an enduring source of pride and inspiration for the ballet community in Calgary.

We extend our deepest gratitude and respect to Karen Kain for her invaluable contribution to the arts in Canada and for her support of Alex.

With love and admiration from all of us at the International School of Ballet.
