Alexandra trained at the International School of Ballet from the age of five and continued as a student at the school for the next 13 years.  In 2006 she won the Solo Seal Award, the highest recognition granted by the Royal Academy of Dance, and was a finalist in the Genée International Ballet Competition.  In 2007 Alexandra was a competitor in the prestigious Prix de Lausanne and subsequently in the Youth America Grand Prix in New York.  She joined the National Ballet of Canada in 2007 and was promoted to First Soloist in 2016.

To this day, she remains an enduring source of pride and inspiration for the ballet community in Calgary.

We extend our deepest gratitude and respect to Karen Kain for her invaluable contribution to the arts in Canada and for her support of Alex.

With love and admiration from all of us at the International School of Ballet.

ISB Student Accepted to Academie Princesse Grace

The International School of Ballet congratulates its student Taylor Yanke who has been awarded a scholarship to the full-time program at the Académie Princesse Grace in Monaco. The program begins this September 2017.

Enrolment in this academy is strictly limited. Only a few dancers are chosen each year from applicants all over the world. Many of the students are top winners at international ballet competitions.

Established in 1975 under director Luca Masala, the academy has become one of the most exclusive schools of dance. It is renowned for its excellence in training and has received numerous awards from the prestigious Prix de Lausanne.

Taylor Yanke will be the first Canadian girl to attend this academy. She is also a finalist for the Youth America Grand Prix and competed in New York in April.

Taylor is only 14 years old and has trained for 11 years extensively at the International School of Ballet under the direction of Mrs. Umran Sumen and her talented faculty. The school, which celebrates its 30th anniversary this season, is proud of Taylor for her achievements. It also takes pride in continuing its dedication to the art of classical ballet.
